What is the game where you clean the Moon?

Moon Sweepers is the game about cleaning dust from the Moon, starting with a toothbrush and turning the job into a much larger operation. It launched on Steam for Windows on October 23, 2026.

You can play alone or invite up to 16 players. Everyone works on the same basic problem: remove lunar dust, get it back to a station and spend the money on equipment that makes the next trip less painful.

What do you actually do?

A normal session moves through a few connected jobs:

  1. Sweep or vacuum lunar dust.
  2. Fill your tool or vehicle storage.
  3. Deliver the dust to a depot or selling intake.
  4. Earn money from the delivery.
  5. Buy better tools, capacity, vehicles or buildings.
  6. Set up a faster route and move on to fresh ground.

The first deliveries are deliberately small. Later, conveyors carry capsules, machines turn raw dust into Moon Sand or Moonstone, and robots keep cleaning while your factory handles the material.

The core loop explains each step. If you already own the game, the beginner guide gives a practical first route.

Is it a cleaning game or a factory game?

It becomes both. Early play is hands-on: walk out, clean a patch, carry the load back and buy a better brush. The factory side appears when manual hauling becomes the slow part.

A Packager feeds handheld dust onto belts. Pressure Chambers produce sand, Stone Presses make Moonstone, and station intakes sell whatever reaches them. Vehicles cover more ground, while Robot Vacuums and J.O.O.N.A.S. shift the late game toward automation.

You can ignore perfect ratios and keep sweeping, or spend time building a cleaner production line. The game supports both approaches.

How does co-op change the job?

With more players, the crew can split up: one person cleans, another drives deliveries, and someone else works on belts or power. Since patch 1.0.3, the crew uses the host’s Upgrade Matrix and purchases benefit everyone.

Co-op does not remove the logistics. Dust still needs a route to storage, processing or sale. The multiplayer guide covers lobby size, shared upgrades and joining problems.

Is there an ending?

The game has one completion goal: cleaning 100% of the Moon, tracked by the Steam achievement Time To Go Sleep… In everyday play, “beating” Moon Sweepers usually means something earlier — your first deliveries, a better brush, a working factory — but the goal the achievement measures is the whole surface.

There is no single playtime for reaching it. Cleaning rate depends on your tools, your vehicles, how much automation you run, how many players share the world and how much time you spend building instead of sweeping. How long to beat Moon Sweepers explains why early progress cannot be multiplied into a total, and how to estimate your own remaining time instead. The achievement checklist shows how far 100% sits beyond the 1%, 10% and 50% coverage milestones.

What happens after 100%?

The developers say they have plans for what comes after the Moon is fully cleaned, and that cleaning the Moon might only be the beginning of your career. That content follows the 100% goal.

It is separate from the announced Update 1.1 in December 2026, which is a nearer content update for the game you already play: new production machines and chains, new materials, more tools and upgrades, better automation and buildings, expanded progression and performance work. See the 600,000 player milestone and 1.1 preview for what the studio listed. The patch history covers the changes already live in 1.0.5.

Where can you play it?

Moon Sweepers is available on Steam for Windows. There is no console, mobile or native Mac version. Steam Deck runs the Windows version through Proton with an Unknown rating from Valve, and patch 1.0.4 fixed startup issues on older Proton versions.
